Tips to help your newborn baby sleep


If a nursing mom is not able to get enough rest, she will become stressed and this will interfere with her ability to produce enough breast milk for her newborn baby.

Let us look at some tips to help you and your baby sleep better


Ensure your baby is well fed


Before contemplating to take your baby to sleep ensure that you have fed him or her. You can know whether your baby is hungry by placing your finger under their chin and if the baby tries to suck it, then the baby is hungry.

Establish a bedtime routine


Creating a solid routine before bedtime will help your baby know what to expect before bedtime. One can choose to give the baby a bath or a night kiss. This will signal to the child that this is the time to sleep.

Walk with your baby


When you notice your baby is sleepy but for so reason they are not falling asleep, gently place them on your should and walk around the house. The continuous movement will greatly help soothe the baby to sleep.

Play music


Classical or slow music will have a soothing effect on the baby and make some babies respond to the sound and will find it soothing.

Keep your baby active during the day


Create a playful and active environment for the baby when they are awake. Keeping your baby active during the day will make them exhausted thus the will catch sleep faster.

Monitor and limit your baby’s sleep during the day


Fix a schedule for your baby’s daytime naps. Ensure that your baby does not sleep for long periods of time during the day so as she or he can get time for sleep during the night.
