COMMON HEALTH ISSUES INCLUDE;

  • Eye strain
  • Back pain
  • Fatigue
  • Stress
  • Work-related upper limb disorder (W.R.U.L.D.) associated with repetitive use of keyboards and mouse for long periods of time.

CONTROL MEASURES

  • Provide D.S.E. users with free eye test and if required spectacles for screen use.
  • Provide basic D.S.E. workstation equipment that meets minimum standards in terms of good ergonomic design.
  • Plan the user’s work so that they can take short frequent breaks from screen and keyboard use.
  • Carry out workstation assessment of the user’s workstation to ensure that the equipment and environment meet minimum standards and the workstation can be adjusted to suit the user.
  • Provide information and training to users on the potential health risks of D.S.E use and the preventive measures, in particular, the ergonomic use of the workstation.
